I worked for my employer for 2 years on a permanent basis and had given them my super details as requested when I started. It wasn’t until I attended a workshop at The Money Project that I checked my super account and found there had been no contributions from my employer in the whole time I had been there even though my payslips said it had been paid!

The month before the first lockdown, I decided to get a short term payday loan. I had only made one repayment when I broke my ankle skateboarding (kids - don’t try that at home) lockdown happened, and my job was only giving me 3 hours per week. For more than a month, I had no idea that I would be eligible for JobKeeper and didn’t know how to meet the repayments.

I had a loan on a work ute that I had bought from a dealer using their finance without shopping around first. I was after a quick and easy purchase. Later I wanted to upgrade because it wasn’t big enough for the work I wanted to undertake. I thought I could do a swap and borrow the extra with no problem.
